    An attempt to keep hot oil from getting on the bottom for fuel cooling performance

    The plate works 2 ways , the heat crossover is right above the plate & oil will coke / burn onto the hot intake , this predominantly what the plate is for but with the crossover blocked it will also keep hot oil off the intake as well
