Proper Challenger Exhaust Tip Exposure
« on: June 30, 2008 - 09:45:02 PM »
I am scheduled to  get a new  exhaust system installed Thursday.   I am interested in how much of the tip is supposed to be exposed and how far away from the valiance lip is it to be (space around the opening).  I have seen many different looks but want to be able to get it right since the system will be welded throughout.  Thanks in advance,..David

As an option for you Dave, this is the look I opted for. Good solid mounts at the trunk are needed as the tail pipes can contact the valence.  :2cents:

I am not old enough to know what the factory looks was but basically where you like it , I usually expose around 1" or a bit more on the top of the tip

With out going over board you need to have them out enough so that exhaust gasses don't deposit on the bumper and rear panel, have to make sure they don't hit the ground on steep/deep driveway gutters also.   :2cents:
