70 RT Challenger 440/6
« on: June 30, 2008 - 12:00:40 PM »
Buddy of mine is looking at a 70 RT 440/6 pack Challenger. Car is a four speed with track pak Dana. All numbers match, fender tag/vin/body numbers all there. No build sheet. Needs a full resto but it looks like it was never messed with. Needs quarters and some fender work other than that car is solid. All floor pans and trunk are solid. Hemi Orange with black vinyl top and black gut. Trying to get a feel of what the market is these days on this car so he can make an intelligent decision. Again, car needs to be restored but it's not a rusty car and it's all there other than build sheet.

If I know these folks here, I think they would ask for pictures if possible! People have different definitions of what "no rust" or "low rust" means.

i really dont think theres such a thing as a market value on items that are controled by the seller, and no way to make a new one .that said if you look close at the good real cars none are for sale the smart  owner will wait till better times come around .is the owner in a cash flow problem or a broker with cars on a floor plan ,that could help you buy cheap .also really good investments seldom go public . a good rule of thumb is to look at the average sales price on a like kind car then look at the restoration cost and subtract that and try to buy with the difference i e .90.000 car 50.000 restore 40.000 or less purchase price its that easy .if the car is a make over stay away from it or buy it for what its worth in parts . think on a seven year return if money is in the picture you could profit on inflation alone .this plan has kept me from ever loosing a dime .also the details of this car rust, a few missing parts weigh little look at the big picture. i hope this helps . :money:
