Anyone see the 440 build on horsepower tv this weekend?
« on: June 23, 2008 - 05:12:20 PM »
I guess it was built for a celebrity but anyway:
440
sealed power forged pistons (you know, the heavy ones)
retrofit hydraulic roller
edelbrock heads
headers
6 pack

and it made.......

420 horsepower on the engine dyno??????????

did I hear that wrong?
WTF??
70 Cuda, 7.0L Gen-III Hemi, Viper T56 w/9310 gearset, 3.91's, Megasquirt MS3x v3.57, Innovate wideband, Firm Feel upper arms, torsion bars, springs and strut rods, QA1 DA shocks. I did everything on this car except the fancy paint stuff and I drive it...and I can't seem to stop messing with it....

Yea, I saw that too. What a joke. They also said that an original 440 6pack was factory rated at 330 HP. I don't know where the heck they get their numbers.

I saw these guys take a chevy 350 that they said made something like 300hp BEFORE the build, used new Edelbrock this and new Holley that and when they were all said and done it made only 5hp more than before the build!!! What a joke!

Oh I agree completely, someone didn't pay enough money, but the bb chevy with tons of aftermarket stuff they ran next got all sorts of tuning on the dyno and make like 800hp - advertisers paid enough of that one. the 440 gets no tuning and makes 420 and they call it good and move on.

I like the indy RB motor they built a few years ago, that was interesting, this build was just annoying and pissed me off
