daydreaming
« on: June 28, 2008 - 11:50:33 AM »
Anyone ever see/use the mopar R3 block? I saw an article on mopar muscle (if I remember correctly) where they used an R3 block and ported w-9 heads to make something insane like 600hp at 7500rpm on 91 octane! Im just daydreaming thinking about motors I could build if I won the lotto...you see so many LA strokers and people doing bigblock swaps but I thought it would be neat to make a high winding little 340 that puts out 600hp on 91 octane.  :eek2: The ford guys wouldn't know what hit em! :burnout:

Mopars race parts definatly work , the R3 / W8or 9 heads make power
I saw an Article a few years back where Ritter & Weber did a small block W9 engine in a prostock chassis , there were 250-300lbs lighter than a legal prostock & were running .3 seconds slower then the 500" prostocks

380 cfm's holy crap!  :burnout: :burnout: No doubt that a r3/w9 motor would be  :money: but at least it'll help a mopar hang with the chevy lsx guys.  :ylsuper:

I guess the only thing a 340cid r3/w9 combo would be lacking is the torque to push a heavy street car (e body) without some really steep gears compared to a stroker or a bigblock but man...screaming at 8000rpm's has got to be a blast!

I found the article
http://www.moparmusclemagazine.com/techarticles/155_0310_340_engine_600_hp/index.html

the cam they used didn't sound too bad for  street use. 630 lift 260 duration with 108 LSA.

"All told, the engine has a powerband of 3,600 to 8,500 rpm and idles at 850 rpm"
