Group 24 battery
« on: June 25, 2008 - 11:54:31 PM »
Hey guys I have a restoration blog in that section so I just got my 70 Challenger on the road and so I wanted to put a mopar battery in it and found out that ma mopar doesn't make a group 24 battery.  Is there one that is close enough to fill the batt tray?  The one I have been using is a marine battery that needs to go back into the boat.  Any advice would be great.  Thanks   Skid

dont they make a false battery cover that makes a regular battery look like an oldstyle one with all the red caps and the logos ?   Sure I saw one someplace.   Maybe Summit ?

I would get the 9 year Everstart from Walmart,  $79.  Then take the sticker off of the side and slap a Mopar sticker on it.  With that kind of warranty, if you replace it in 5 years, you still get almost half of the pro-rating towards a new one.   They used to be yellow with dual posts but the new ones are now black with single posts.

The Fake covers with red or yellow caps used to be sold by an advertiser in MCG but I haven't see the ad lately.  Those covers would fit perfectly on the Everstart battery.

A group 27 will fit, mopar probably makes one too....I had a group 27 in mine and it fit fine....(just longer than a 24)
