Fender tags with tape

So as I am always looking on Ebay at mopars, I see the sellers covering the serial numbers on the fendertags sometimes.  I see "Red R/T" on this site has no problem showing his complete tag.  Do they have something to hide, or do they feer someone will copy it?  Whats up wit dat?
