help with this build
« on: July 07, 2008 - 07:29:22 PM »
Heres what Im starting with.

440 block
440 source 512 stroker kit
edelbrock 84cc heads
edelbrock rpm intake
Holley hp 950 carb

What would be a good cam, headers, 1.5 or 1.6 rockers?  Is 10.5 the max I can go with these heads?  What kind of numbers would this be good for?  Im looking for 500 to the wheels through a 5 speed and id like a nice flat power curve not just big peak numbers.  Give me your  :2cents:  Thanks

well 500 to the wheels I hope you have some bottom end protection... and the heads should have atleast a stage 2 port job and a roller cam...  i dont like the intake choice.... maybe a m1 would be much better for the power range desired  :2cents:

Also has to run on 87 octane.  Just kidding 91 and be good on the street.  By that I mean Im not trying to build a daily with this but I dont want a radical race car that cant idle in traffic.  Bay area traffic sucks.

solid roller cam with 1.6/1.7 rockers.... low duration yet get good lift for power.. and a good cooling system  :2cents:

too many variables , it can make great power, 500hp will be easy  , the STreet Dom is another good intake , the RPM surprised me with the power it can make as well , there are excellent grinds from Lunati & Engle , but what RPM powerband , flat tappet or roller cam
you should be able to get close to 11:1 compression with alum heads again depending on cam etc
