Windshield Washer Tech...
« on: July 02, 2008 - 01:51:21 PM »
Hey guys,

I have no idea what forum this goes in, but it sorta dawned on me this morning that I've lost my contacts for getting a certain Ebody of mine inspected when it might not, erm, COMPLETELY pass inspection...

One particular area I know I'm going to run into is with my windshield wipers and washers.  The wipers don't work because the wipers get stuck on the lower windshield trim and then the motor just spins inside the transmission - the motor arm stud has rounded off.

The other issue is the washers.  The reservoir is cracked at the bottom, so it won't hold fluid, and the lines are completely missing up to the nozzles.

I got a price today from A+M HIGHTECHAUTO.COM for $126 shipped on a reservoir, pump, filter, hosing (with factory ribbing) and hardware.  I'll have to put a switch somewhere in the car and run wires.

Does that seem like a good price?  Anyone else every worked with this company?  Just curious before I send payment.

Thanks!

Viperman.......I am just going to comment on the inspection..........Are you sure you have to get it inspected.??  We here in NC do not have to have a car inspected if it is over 30 years old.  I really don't know the reasoning but I guess they figure if its that old and still running it must have been restored. I don't know.  Anyway.......... as far as the washer res.....check with Dantes'.  I think I got mine there or YO........forget.........cause I'm older that 30 too.

Yes - all vehicles with PA registration require PA Safety Inspection.  I do not need the emissions testing, but the car has to be checked annually for safety.

The turn signals on my wife's 2000 Focus recently broke - they don't turn off now when the wheel is turned the opposite direction.  I'll have to fix that before inspection as that is a failable item.

Yeup - sucks.  Actually what REALLY sucks is watching idiots driving around in vehicles rusted so bad that you can see the inner sheet metal and you KNOW they shouldn't have passed inspection, but there they are...
