2536430 440 1966-72 RB
3698830 440 1973-78 RB
4006630 440 1978 RB

The block casting numbers for all RB, B, and LA engines are found on the left (driver) side of the block.  In addition, on 1968 and later engines the numbers stamped on the lower rail of the engines right (passenger) side match the last 8 digits of the cars vehicle identification number.

Just some extra info, a "warranty" engine will not have any numbers on the pan rail (have one in my car, it's a 73 440 block)
70 Cuda, 7.0L Gen-III Hemi, Viper T56 w/9310 gearset, 3.91's, Megasquirt MS3x v3.57, Innovate wideband, Firm Feel upper arms, torsion bars, springs and strut rods, QA1 DA shocks. I did everything on this car except the fancy paint stuff and I drive it...and I can't seem to stop messing with it....

I've looked all around the distributor but don't see any identifying marks.  Where exactly are they supposed to be?

Thanks

I will run out to my garage and snap a pic of a bb pad for you so you can see it in relation to the distributor hole.

Ok after a little cleaning (there must of been 10 coats of paint over the pad)  I have an "F 440 with an upside down A to the right" and a "4 27" below the F 440...

Any inputs?

Thanks

If you do not see HP then it is most likely a 350 horse version but it really does not matter if you are going to rebuild it. As it has been stated before, all the stuff that makes an HP an HP goes away with a rebuild and the blocks were the same year to year.

F440= 1970 440 installation. Now you can get the casting date off the side of the block. It will be 69 or 70 most likely
