Parts prices at the show any super deals?
« on: July 14, 2008 - 07:42:57 AM »
I know some members had wish lists for certain parts.  How was the pricing and did anybody find any super deals?

Did you see Amanda's G&D parts section?

I would be interested in hearing about some bargains anyone got. Like rally dash stuff, suregrips, body parts, and the like.

I was so upset that my job sent me in a different dirrection. I was 182 miles from the show when they made me leave the area. I wanted a decklid chrome for my car and maybe a cheap electronic distributor to trade in for a rebuilt for the 440. Just little things of the sort. Anyone see interior panels selling for a decent price?

Please post some of the things you got here, or any deals you may have seen
I was told prices were down some, and that is a good thing

Moparal,

Here's my  :2cents:

I found lots and lots of C grade parts. Fenders, hoods and other good quality original body parts were in very short supply. I have seen it progressively get harder to find quality parts at Carlisle. On the other hand if I did find something really nice, dealers were asking ridiculous prices. Some notables were Rally dash instrument clusters and switch panels. I didn’t see even one LD 340 and only saw one last year for over $200. The buyer attendance in the swap meet area seemed way down from previous years.

I believe this issue is like a double edged sword. On one hand dealers have started to rely on the bidding process of Ebay and other on line outlets with the possibility of realizing higher returns on their parts instead of setting a fixed price at a swap meet. Buyers are becoming more comfortable buying on line saving the travel expenses and possibly come up empty handed looking for the parts on their want list.

I got a couple of good deals,  a cuda trunk lid for $40 & a '70 Charger service manual & owners manual for $10.  There were a lot of ebody rally dashes, but I didn't look at prices.  Charger rally dashes were around $400.  I also got a Challenger rear valance FREE.  Sunday morning, the guy just wanted rid of it.
I didn't get to meet Amanda, I couln't find them.
The few people that bought from me got good deals, but I just had a few things in my buddies vending area that I was trying to get rid of.

I barely even walked the swaps this year - most off the stuff I'm looking for is new/aftermarket, and that stuff just isn't available in the swaps.

Oh, it's available at Carlisle, but at 4-digit minimums.  A lot of them offered encouragement in the form of "10% off Show Special," but even I'd prefer to compare the "discounted show price" with that of the online availability price.

Of course, if it IS cheaper at the show, I'll be maxing out a credit card here in the next year or two!

I didn't see much by the way of "deals"  Although usable fender prices were way down.  I saw one fender for 40 bucks.  it was savable.

All I got was a new headliner for 55 bucks from Dante's parts.

Sheet metal parts were down overall probably due to the new sheet metal coming out.  However, I did see a sweet Black Viper that seemed like a good deal.  I don't know that much about them but it seemed like a good deal.  See pics.

It's kinda funny on some of the original parts. 4-C started asking folks in the CC.com tent for their "step away from that crack pipe" crazy sales prices on used parts. For starters, I saw a 69 Dodge Charger left from fender for $1,200.00. I have a '68 Barracuda and the rear tail light asemblies (used)were going for anywhere from $300 to $600 bucks for the complete assemblies. I did however find a right rear lense in good shape (mine is missing a silver dollar sized chunk) for $40.00 bucks and a pair of very nice (used) outside mirrors (no pitting & darn near perfect) for $80.00 bucks. When I asked the vendor if he'd take $75 he almost went postal on me!! I was out of line as it was WAY cheap, but it never hurts to ask!! :smilielol: The other crack pipe sale of the day was $28K for a rusty plain-jane '73 barracuda!! It was a fun weekend!! :2thumbs:
