Im a :newbie: here and have a couple questions hoping maybe someone can help me with. My 12 year old loves Cuda's especially 71s. After seeing the FM3 display at Carlisle this year with a 1970 FM3 Cuda and a pink stripe down the side this just reaffirmed her love for Cuda's even more.  With being on a budget, saving for her college fund and the price of Cudas being what they are buying one isnt an option. Ok with all that being said I have a 74 Rallye Challenger that has been in my family for over 20 years. We talked about the Challenger after returning from Carlisle and we are going to start restoring this as her car instead of a Cuda(didnt take much talking or convincing). The car is white with black interior, 318 auto on the column, bucket seats, power brakes and manual steering. Its going to be restored pretty close to stock with the exception of the paint which will be FM3 Panther Pink with pink strobe stripes. The only other things will be dual exhaust and A/C. My question is about the grill and tail lights/tail light panel. What is the right color I have read that the rallye package came with a black grill and blacked out tail light panel. I have seen a 73 Challenger survivor with an argent silver/gray grill and tail panel and a 74 Challenger 360 that was done to a concourse resto with a black grill and tail panel. Does anyone know which is correct? Thanks Ken and daughter Jessica  :burnout:

If you are doing a Pink Challenger paint scheme on your 74 and are leaving it a 74, i would suggest painting the front of the car or around the headlights section in body color and painting the grille in what ever color you want from Black to Argent silver and same goes for the rear tail panel section, either color would work in that area.

  Welcome to the site Ken and your daughter too!  I don't have the answer to your paint color question, but I'm sure you will find out soon enough.  Post some pictures of your '74.

Welcome aboard Ken,

Here are a couple pictures of the Mod Squad car from back in the 70's. It was a 71 vert with a 72 front and rear to get ready for filming the next season.

Anyway, the front and back are correctly painted for the Rallye version. The front grille and lower valance were a flat black with a light argent non textured silver stripe on both front edges. The tail panel was painted organisol textured flat black just like an AAR or TA hood. The sockets were light argent textured silver.

Hope that helps.

WELCOME  :newbie: !! you've got some fellow Md'ers here! So, let us know if you need help!

check out marylandmopars.net for show listings too! I think the Black would look better with the pink than Grey, and concourse rules wont have to apply b/c it will be Pink anyway!  :2thumbs:

Hi everyone me and my daughter thank you for the warm welcomes. Sorry I didnt reply sooner but I can only get on as time permits, im sure some of you know how it is. Well first off HEMIKEN the pic of the pink Challenger is cool she loves it. Slotts the pics of 71/72 are awsome thanks, I remember reading about this car a few years back the color is way cool. Hi wally426ci I think your right about the black looking better with the pink, and concourse is cool but thats just not for my cars( like to change things on them to much lol :working: ) .but as I said concourse is cool. When I get the bugs worked out of my comp and the cam working I will post some pics of her Challenger. I'm warning you all now though its a little ruff so the pics might not for the faint of heart lol. Jess will be driving in a little less than 3 years. She loves the Challenger but she seems to be determined to get behind the wheel of my Road Runner once its done,  :roflsmiley: she always bring that up when some mentions my Road Runner. She loves cars and loves it when we work on them together, when everyone eles was playing with Barbies she was playing in my toolbox. Thanks again Ken and Jess  :burnout:

Welcome to the site, Ken!  It sounds like you have a good project about to go underway and it's cool your daughter is interested in these old E-bodies. :2thumbs:  As you can see from my signature pic, I don't necessarily care for 100% factory/year correct, either.

Howdy Furious...welcome aboard, I've had a '73 Challenger Rallye since '75, bought it from the original owner with 22K. The grill is black although standard models came silver or light argent...the only rear I ever saw on these cars was the HEAVY silver metal flake......personally I prefer satin or flat black on most colors but works well on this black one
