The biggest regret I had was not buying a real r/t challenger and spent tons making a clone car look like an r/t. In your case, I would look at the 'Cuda if I wanted the performance model. imo

I agree with you that if you have a preference ie. hemi,aar,rt or whatever....you need to wait until you find the right car.  In my case I am looking to to a restomod and would actually rather not have something on the rare side.  I'm not going to chop it up or anything but will have a modern drivetrain, susp. and interior.
About 10 years ago I had the strong desire to own an all orginal #'s matching 68-72 bigblock convert. vette.  So, I waited despite the opportunities to purchase some really nice cars on the cheap.  After 6mo waiting I found it!  I still own that car and because I waited that 6mo's I got what I really wanted and based on its value today I got it cheap.
