heads again
« on: July 26, 2008 - 03:26:43 PM »
As you can tell I'm really wanting some heads for my street 440 to replace my tired out, weak springed, 346 heads..

So if they have been milled .010 and not milled on the intake side doesn't this mean my intake won't fit right?

They wiff fit milled .010 just fine, kepp going much more and the holes wont line up good.   Have you looked at areo headfs?  Grab an MCG mag and thumb through. But in all honesty, you really need to find a set local , buy the parts and have the local man build them

What are you trying to accomplish , where is the compression now in the engine , would 915 closed chambers be a better choice ?
you need to remove .012 from the intake face for every .010 removed from the deck , the intake will still fit but it will be tighter to get the intake on

Compression should be low. Stock non hp 440.  You said closed chamber heads would ping on pump gas.

ok so the 906 would be a decent choice especially if they are rebuilt with stainless valves & you can get a good buy on them
