Valve cleaning
« on: August 02, 2008 - 06:07:19 PM »
I have my intake removed awaiting shipment of its replacement. I  noticed that the valves have some moderate carbon build up on them. Is there anything to spray on them that would clean things up a bit, since they are easy to get to, or is it better to not mess with them?   :clueless:  :clueless:

BP gas is supposed to clean it.... or just start the motor and pull a plug and fuel wash it  :scared:

I had a plug wire come off one time and when I pulled the 906's that I sold shortly after the whole combustion chamber and those 2 valvs were completely cleaned of deposits...  "Fuel Washed"

I dont think I would recomend doing this. but it works ,,,,,,,  :scared:

I agree, I don’t know what you could use because when I clean valves out of the head I have to soak over night in carb cleaner and get physical with them.

I've poked deposits on the Intakes valve heads with a long handle flat blade screwdriver before to dislodge carbon buildup when changing intakes. :poopoke: Make sure the valve is closed first so they don't fall in the cylinders. You can suck the chunks out with a shop vac.

I have found carb cleaner in a bucket like from NAPA / Auto Zone will do well or break cleaner in a can. A Brass wire brush helps alot.
