Original Paint Process

  I am not sure if this is the right place to post this but here goes.
 
  I was wondering if anyone has pictures of the original paint process that was used in 70-71 Mopars.
 
  Were the cars dipped in Primer, then sprayed body color?
  Were the cars dipped in Primer and then dipped in Paint color?

Dipped in Primer, then sprayed with primer amd then sprayed body color.

Any specific reason why they dipped with primer and then sprayed with primer?

In 71 one of my dads friends had a brand new 1970 Challenger 340 4 speed FC7 and he took it to the car wash and sprayed the roof with a pressure washer and it took the paint right off, it was still under warranty and the dealership repainted it for free.
