Keisler Tremec TKO-500 5 speed questions.

So I've been giving her more of the go juice. And finding the 5 speed having trouble shifting under extreme conditions. No problems otherwise. Just a pesky little leak. I've heard some others having these problems. Anybody out there have one beefed up by those mustang dudes?  Any suggestions?   And please don't laugh at this next question.... :smilielol:    But...   What's the easiest way to get this rubber smokn' with a stick? The kuhmo's out back are soft.Hook up good.   I don't like revving it up and dumping the clutch. Mayby get her rolling in first and grab some brake and gas her watching the revs?   :dunno: :1zhelp: :clueless: :violin: :smilielol:

I did. Modular Mustang Racing. Good people. Fast.
I can't tell you how it performs because I shipped off right after I got the engine out of the dyno shop.

Good morning Robert -
Great to hear that you are up and running.  Where is the leak coming from?  If it's from the tail shaft, you may have to much tranmission fluid in it.  The unit only needs 2 3/4 quarts not 3.  Have you adjusted the shifter tower like the directions said to do.  How fast (RPM wise) are you trying to shift.

WoW   hey there....    Thanks for the help!!!!! :2thumbs:  I think the leak is coming from inbetween the bell and trans. :clueless:   Not sure yet.  I'm shifting around 4500 to 5000 rpm's.  It doesn't like 3rd.  It may have too much fluid,as it is slowing down some. I havn't adjusted anything. Any tips?  The 5th gear really helps!!!  Thanks Tony!!!! :wave:

Afternoon Robert - Have you been driving the car alot.  You have to retrain yourself on shifting the Tremec.  The 1-2 is a pull back, the 2-3 is straight forward....let me guess you jump to 5th.  The transmission is fully syncro'd with the expection of reverse.  Do you have everything adjusted properly with respect to the clutch?  Does it grind going into reverse?  The tower that the shift is mounted to can become mis-aligned and may need a slight re-adjustment (loosen the bolts and rotate it front to back or vice versa).  If the leak is in the front of the transmission....Can you see it when you drop the inspection cover?  Let me know if it's in the front.  The fix is easy, but you have to remove the transmission.

Hey Tony,Sorry been real busy. No, I don't go over to 5th.No problems there.No grinding going into reverse at a stop at all. Real nice. The leak is at the front. Not bad. Clutch is set good.I like it on the tight side.Sometimes it just doesn't like going into 3rd under hard gas.I'm getting better.It's a "feel" thing. Shifts nice and smooth otherwise. Sounds/feels like a revolver pistol. :smokin: :2thumbs:

Try rotating the shifter platform a little to the front of the transmission and see if that helps.  I'll send you some instructions on the re-sealing of the input retaining collar.  It's easy to do, however, the key point is not the remove the input shaft.  It's a bad thing, I did it once with a TKO-600 and the 15 or 18 needle bearing fell into the transmission case.  When I called Tremec, they had a really big laugh when I told them what I did.  Not funny, I told them, but i turned out fine in the end.
