hey guys,
ok, i admit i am more of an engine guy than an audio guy, but am really pulling my hair out on this one. :pullinghair:
here is what i got:
I have a 70 e-body with a thumbwheel am-fm radio...
I have the 'rear speaker' knob on the dash...
I have the one stock speaker in the front dash...
I have two aftermarket 6x9 speakers in my rear package tray..their wires obviously do not match the wires or color codes of the rear speaker knob or radio. :banghead:
I have a mess! :bricks1:

help me out please...how am i supposed to wire this up?  my first thought was to splice the two rear speakers together, but an 'audio expert' told me not to...
any help would be most appreciated!! :worshippy

thanks,
PHC

Hey PHC,

I will check my buddy's 70 service manual tonight and let you know.

I looked for your car at the Nats but didn't find it.

Guess i am going to have to wait until 2010 for the next Mopar Nats--got my orders to go play in the sandbox called iraq for a year come October...totally bummed  :villagers:

Hey PHC,

I have a 11 x 17 copy of what you need. I'll send it to you. I still have your address.

If you need a trace done before you receive this, let me known.

To the point of using two rear speakers & how to wire them you have to be concerned with Ohms/resistance as it relates to load on the amplifier.. Chrysler used 1 8-Ohm speaker per channel, if your lucky your aftermarket speakers are 4-Ohms making this simple, you will be able to wire them in series & have 8-Ohms resistance, but if they are 8-Ohm speakers you would be better off wiring them in parallel for a total resistance of 4-Ohms. Both are shown here.

If this were my car I would look into one of these as your OE radio probably does not put out but a couple of watts & those new aftermarket 6x9"s are not going to sound very good underpowered. This would give you the option of left/right-front/back balance & fade and quite a bit more bang for a very few bucks + its small enough to hide.

If it were mine I would buy a small 4 channel amp and wire the two rears to it and use another channel for the front speaker and you will still have another channel to play with. I would recommend a jensen 4 channel they are cheap but good.
