340 4-speed Z bar help
« on: August 28, 2008 - 06:59:33 PM »
As with everything one thing leads to another.  :pullinghair: I’m working on a 70 340 Cuda 4-speed. This started with putting on a new (correct) exhaust pipe on the driver side. I discovered the clutch fork interfered, not allowing the exhaust pipe to move far enough inward towards the center of the car. This explained why the exhaust I took off looked like a pretzel and bounced off the bottom of the car.

I removed the inspection cover and pulled the fork out and it was 12-1/2” long. I got the new fork and pivot (brewer's) in but now the Z-Bar pin is too far to the left. Do I have the wrong Z bar? I took some pictures and will include below.

The 1st picture is the fork on top I removed and the new one below
The 2nd picture is the old pivot on the top and new one on the bottom
the 3rd and 4th pictures are the mis-alignment.

this is why the end of the adjuster rod is angled , the rod is not straight into the fork , hook it up & go

Thanks for the feedback. I went to Brewer's site and the Z bar I have is wrong. You can not pull the adjuster over far enough without it binding. I'm going to order the correct on below.
