If you're talking about a 4 speed shifter then yes it's different. The shifter mounts further forward on a B body than on the E bodies and therefore has shorter linkage rods. The shift lever is also longer on the B bodies.

In the MOPAR performance book the actual shifter mechanism that you bought is listed under the same part No. for both B & E bodies, just the rods and handle that are different lenghts and shape. I believe there are 2 different attaching clamps for the handle, so you need to get the right handle. I bought a B model handle and shifter for my Challenger and just changed the handle to the E body, bought for less than the price of the shifter as the shop wanted to get rid of the assembly and then sold the handle and saved more money.
