non mopar question....
« on: August 27, 2008 - 01:22:43 PM »
a friend of mine is looking for a chevy van (2000/2005)  and wants to ask some questions about those cars before purchasing.  I told him to look up a board for vans but he said he couldn`t find one..... so ...what would be a nice place for him to go?

thanks  :2thumbs:

Full size rear wheel drive or mini van front wheel drive?

full size...
I googled a bit myself...seem to be tons of nice chevy boards out there.....I don`t know why he couldn`t find a decent one
there is a nice 2001( ? ) van for sale in his area but there were several guys who told him not to buy because the trannys of these vans would be bad and keep breaking down....those comments overhere mostly come from guys that have seen one or two 1980 vans cruising down the street, and heard somebody say the trannys were bad.... :misbehaving:  if you know what I mean...
so I told him to visit a site with people who know a thing or two about the se cars...

What trans it got? 4L60E? I have never had any problems with the ones Ive owned or worked with. An aftermarket trans cooler or finned pan is really the only thing that really needs upgrading on them.

A 1/2 ton model would be a 4L60-E and around the '02 and earlier they were bad for stripping the splines out the the reaction shell (too soft) or they snap of the hub area that has the splines in it (not enough radius) if you know what to do when you rebuild them though, they are a pretty good unit.

That is not a trans we get an abundance of calls on. Granted we get calls on all of them, but some allot more than others.
