I have to say, after doing research and looking through old threads on dyno results, my perception of what horsepower/performance should be is drastically changed. I grew up in my teens in the late 60's and have always thought that HP was the true measure of a car's "power". As I've dabbled in muscle cars the last 15 years or so, I've learned so much about what true performance is and how set-ups are so vitally important. I hear guys at car shows, cruises, etc. bragging about how they're running 450-500 horsepower and looking back and knowing some of the combos they're running, I know they would be in for a shock if they put it on the dyno.
That said, I consider my 'Cuda to be very "quick" with the combo I have, but definitely not built for much more than an 8th mile. My 4:11 gears and fat tires give me the launch and rush I seek in the "short" run and as others have said on this thread, if I'm happy with it and it brings me pleasure, mission accomplished.
