Starter just spinning

Hey guys I finally got the engine put back and everything put back together ( i think) and i went to start it up and the starter just spins. it doesnt seem like the fork inside is pushing the drive out??? anyone had this happen... it was working fine when we took it out ... any chance some wires are crosssed or somethin ???

Sounds like a bad solenoid in the starter to me.

I had the same problem a while back and it was a bad started.  If you can, take it out and down to AutoZone, etc and have them test it.

Had that happen once, it turns into a generator and pegs the ammeter charging.

It has to be a broken arm in the starter that slides the bendix forward.  The starter will not spin unless the solenoid is pulled all the way back to give it power.

I get my new mini starters at the junk yard. Sometimes I find NEW/REBUILT ones while looking under the mopars. They only charge $12 at the Pick&Pull.   Get one of those type.
