On my 74 'cuda I rolled the wheel openings up, so the tires do not rub. In the past I used the 3,300 lb.SS's with the 340 and slicks, but since I replaced them with MP 440 Cuda springs and 440/727 auto. it rides 1.5" lower(or stock). The 275-60R x 15x8" with 4.5 offset, street tires do not rub either. A rear sway bar keeps it centered. Also,if you were to swap in a 1968 B body housing and offset rear shackles you would gain the room (3/4"each side) for the 10" x 5.5 offset rims. But then you would need the MP 3,600 lb. SS's for taller tires or slicks. A problem with the SS's is the shorter front segment, they will need longer front hangars, and although the hangars are thicker they are going to flex. Not the best for road racing, but adequate for the drags.
