Have you ever felt !!!!!
« on: September 28, 2008 - 09:52:54 PM »
TOTALLY FRUSTRATED  with your current progress on your project.   :villagers:  It feels like I have been sanding and striping my car for months now and I'm still not done.   :pullinghair:   But I'm getting closer. I started this little repainting job early last spring and had planned on being done by my birthday in July----BUT between home remodeling and other honeydo things---bouts of extreme lazyness---and a few health issues---I'm behind as usual.   >:(    First off I'm trying to do this cheaply (NO such thing) by doing all the prep work myself. This is my current state of things.
Actually I just moved everything outside so I could clean the garage and hang some plastic for a temp spray booth and get  the cuda into primer. Hope to start spraying in a few days. And then the fun begins with block sanding ect.  YEA  more sanding    :faint:   Oh well it's been a real learning experience.     Side note:  As I was taking pics the bateries in my camera went dead so I went inside to get new ones. When I came back out a car had pulled up and was checking things out. I think the guy had thougt he had just found the deal of a life time   :jumping:   Turns out he lives a few blocks away and has a 70 roadrunner in his garage.   Sometimes you just never know.    :smilielol:

SOLD!!   I will be by in the morning to pick it up.   Just take a break from the car. After a week or two without working on it you will be dying to get back into the garage. We have all been there. Just remember this is a hobby and working on them is half the fun.   Working on my projects is my way of getting away from the stresses of everyday life. Sometimes I get frustrated and walk away. Sometimes it is for a couple days, weeks, or even months. However whenever my brain tells me it is time to get back into the garage I cant think of anything but working on the project.       P.S.   Timelines are worthless in the classic car hobby.

Well there's your problem.  You've got that there comfy looking chair in there; bet it reclines and everything.  Keep something like that in the garage and it makes you lazy.  Get it out.  Leave a hard, uncomfortable stool for when you have to take a breather or work sitting down.  Then you'll get more work done and minimize drifting off!

I totally know how you feel.  Seems like I have been sanding forever. Now that I actually have some paint on the car, though I still have a lot of work to do, it at least looks like I am getting there.

Best thing to do is not to think about it and just keep pecking away at it.

I've had that old garage/shop chair for over 25 years. It's made 3-4 moves with me and I don't know why????    :clueless:  I can't even remember where I got it from but it sure is comfy.  It's my ---We better sit back and think about this for a minute---chair.   :sly:  Or sometimes after a long hard day in the garage you just need to sit back and admire your work. Some times I even impress myself    ::)

Take your time and don't make a chore of it. That's an easy way to burn out. When you really feel like working on it the result will be better anyways IMO.

I "finish" sprayed mine in the garage with the plastic cocoon. Lots of work getting there, then much cut and polish on the lacquer. I can genuinely say it was worth it, and proud to be the one that did the entire job. :)
