HI. Picked up a 742 323 sure grip pumpkin today for 150.00 cdn. It looks good, it,s solid etc. Was this a good price, he has another 489 355 for the same. Did all 742 come with the 7290 yoke, 2 1/8 across the inside.More later Thanks

no the 742 did not all have the same yolk & BTW the 7290 is 2 5/8" on the inside , the 7260 is 2 1/8" inside

CP.   someone told me that their is a conversion piece from Mopar Performance that you can get to put on to make it a 7290, being as my drive shaft is 2-5/8, Your Thoughts. Also the strap or u bolt type Thanks

You can get the joint and the straps at a local parts store.  It's a big little joint. Neapco makes them spicer makes them.

Dave, You need a 355 sure grip?

yes you can swap the yolk , many places have the part available & usually for less then Mopar charges , at least the 742 doesn`t have a crush sleeve but you need to torque the nut sto about 250 ft lbs , generally the U joint type is stronger than the strap type but either is good
 the simpler fix is to by the conversion U joint for about 30$ &

That conversion U Joint is what I have on mine.  I've been very mean to it but it never failed me

is it rusty or just dirty , solvent & a brush should clean the dirt off

I was thinking of going with 3:55's if the bigger tires don't help much on the highway.  I may try the 833OD I have first though.  If you know of one for sale maybe send me a PM and I may be interested in picking it either way.   :2thumbs:
