Turn Signal Switch?

Lately I've been poppin' fuses for my turn signals/hazards....I'll put a new one in and it seems to blow when I use the right directional.  The hazards won't blow unless I turn them on, otherwise they are fine (they don't blow when I use the signals).  So, that leads me to believe it's a turn signal switch......anyone else have any thoughts on what it could be?

You could be right...But, there could be a short somewhere in the wiring to your front or rear turn signal bulb on the right side. Do you have the correct light bulbs? I'm just throwing things at you..

Well Goody and I rewired my whole car about a year ago (EZ Wiring Harness) and upgraded my fuse box to a 21 slott fuse box.  Things were ok until about a month ago and then that's when it started happening....I do have the correct bulbs in there as well.....

My Father-in-law had the exact same problem in his late model pick up truck a couple years ago, and turned out it was a short in the wiring inside the turn signal stalk, so that would probably be the first place I would look.

Do I have to take the steering wheel off and column apart?

Can anyone get a part number for the turn signal?  I looked in my parts catalog and wiring diagram, buit didn't see anything.....

BTW you don't want to mess around with a bad switch, local guys car was smoking in the harness from a bad one, luckily he was there & got his battery disconnected.

Get a whole spare switch assembly and plug it in from the bottom and test it before you pull your whole column apart.  It could be a short somewhere else.
