Thanks, Mike (and Slotts).  Good eye.  I'll bid on it and see how it goes.  Makes me crazy that someone wants $5.50 to mail a half ounce piece.  Moparnut said when he gets back home from a trip that he'll look at his 8-track shaft and dimension.  Appreciate the help.

I'm not sure how crazy the bidding will go, but at least you can see a picture of it in case you want to fabricate something.

I was just going to bid on this with a totally rediculous amount to make sure you got it.  I owe you one as it is. But I do not want to bid against you. Do you really want this part? I would do 50-75 on it for you if you decide to quit bidding on it. I am sure it would fly at that price.  Let me know how bad you want it. It can be yours if you really want it. I would see to it....

Danke (or however you say it in Dutch).  I'm still hoping to get the dimensions because a friend with a small lathe thinks he can make one, then I'd get it plated.

Well, I bid on and lost the one on Ebay. It went for $61. (!!)  I'm still hoping that someone can measure their's and pass the dimensions along,

My dad was bidding on it as he is missing his stem also for the selector.  Don't know what his max was but I was amazed at how high it went.

That's MY head banging on the wall. Thanks for the good thoughts, but this really shouldn't be so complicated.

Spent an hour and am almost done with one except for getting it plated.  Roy282 and Moparnut helped with the dimensions.  I'm waiting for a little clarification on one of them.

Thanks for the "affirmation."  It's sorta fun turning it, although I'm still pi$$ed about throwing away the original  :banghead:. Actually the original isn't original. I had gotten a C-body 8-track deck from Ebay and scavenged the eject pin and the thumb wheel controls off of it, so it was galling to have accidently thrown the pin away.
I fell heir to the lathe.  It's a South Bend from the late '30s that needed a motor, some oil, and a lot of cleaning, so this pin is my first project on it. I hoping to hear how long the eject pin supposed to be, then I can thread it and find a plating shop.  It this goes well and plating isn't to horribly expensive I might try to make a couple extra. In any case, I'm going to make one more and try using stainless.  This one is plain steel (from a bolt), and I think stainless would make a nicer product.

Thanks, Roy282, for all the info. I cut what I had down to 2.5 inches and threaded it.  I tried one tonight in stainless, but it didn't go so well (especially without cutting fluid).  I appreciate the help I got from Roy and Moparnut.
