Finally got the new TAC trans 727, custom Protorque converter, new 1 3/4 Hooker Supercomps and a few other little things in and got the car running the other day. Spent a lot of time taking stuff apart to paint it (just spray bombing everything, on a tight budget), ran all new tranny cooler lines, fixed a fuel line issue, fixed some suspension problems, had the driveshaft balanced ect....
Car feels great! Tranny shifts solid and quick...feels just right! Converter feels great so far....still not really sure where the stall is exactly because its hard to drive the car a lot with the open headers (ordering exhaust soon) but I think it is just around on the low side of what we were shooting for (2800ish). This way, on a 100 shot it should be right where it should be for my 230* .480" cam. The stall might go up a little too, because (and heres where a question comes in) when I drove her the other day, it was breaking up BAD. At first I suspected a crossed wire or possibly the MSD 6AL took a dump on me. The car barely wanted to go over 4K at WOT...it just studdered and broke up bad. I filled the car up with a full tank of fresh gas and the more I drove it, the better the problem seemed to get on it's own. By the time I parked it yesterday, it felt a good 50% better than what it was when I first took it out but it still felt a little choppy and a little sluggish at WOT but it had its snap back throughout most of the rpm range. Thinking it's just the carb gunked up from sitting for 5 months? Any ideas? I'll see how long I can tolerate the open headers again today and take it out, see if it keeps getting better.
Want to say thanks to Terry for the great work and great customer service! I'll post some pics, maybe a video soon as soon as I get it all running top.
