Lokar Kickdown Adjustment
« on: October 08, 2008 - 11:04:47 AM »
 :newbie: :1zhelp:

As a newbie I am very proud of myself. I installed a new carb on my car and believe it or not, the car starts and runs and has no leaks.

 :woohoo:

My problem is now with my kickdown. It revs really high before it drops into second and does not want to go into third. ( It is an automatic). It ran good with the old carb.

How do I adjust my Lokar kickdown. ( I am assuming that is my problem).

I have no idea where to start.

Thanks in advance.

Steve

Steve,

I have the same on my cuda you first make sure it is not binding up then hook it up and make sure your throttle is all the way forward like it would be idling. Then go under car and make sure the kickdown on the trans is set loose. The whole thing is when you kick down the throttle you want the cable to pull the transmission piece all the way.YOu will need two people to do this.

Any questions call my husband at 410-713-8895 he can help you over the phone.

From what I've read on here when the throttle is wide open you want the kickdown lever to be pulled all the way back.

Yup, it was a very fine line between softer and harder shifting.   You'll get it will some quick trial and error, just go for a ride and bring the allen wrench with you and make small adjustments.

All I got is a shot up top.  I run the Mancini Tall Throttle bracket and it has provision for the KD cable.
