Freeze plug experiment
« on: February 29, 2016 - 12:20:58 AM »
I have a leaking freeze plug on the rear passenger side head. The plugs are new, so it must be leaking around the edge (bad install). Has anyone ever tried pressing in a new plug? I don't want to pull the motor. I was thinking of taking a piece of 3/8 all thread, a nut, washer and a 21mm socket and using a small piece of wood against the firewall to "press" in the plug. In theory it'll work! Am I just delaying the inevitable?

Try using a brass freeze plug had good luck with on on a boat motor (hard access) got it in. They also make a rubber one that expands it has a bolt in the center u tighten seen those work very good  :2cents:
