What shocks should I run?

I'm to the point where I need to decide what shock absorbers to install on the Cuda. I guess a better question should be, " how much should I spend?"

I've looked at everything from $15 Gabriels, to $40 KYB, to $85 Edelbrocks, and finally, $135 Konis.

I've heard people swear by the Koni's, but frankly, I can't justify $500 for a set of shocks.

I've run KYB's before with good success. They do tend to be a bit bouncy in some applications though.

The Edelbrocks, are intriguing, but at more than double the price of the KYB's, what do I really get for the money?

The bottom end Gabriels/Monroe are pretty junky, so I'm really not giving them serious consideration.

The rest of the suspension package consists of .92" T-bars, XHD springs and 18" wheels and tires. Car is set-up for a big block, but it will have aluminum heads, intake, etc... but I haven't ruled out a small block.

Not going to be autocrossing, but there will definitely be some spirited driving.

Are there any other options available that I should consider?

I don't have much on my car in the relm of performance suspension. I have 17 and 18" wheels, (255 and 295 wide), cordoba 11 3/4" brakes, stock 318 torsion bars, super stock leaf springs, and Summit adjustable shocks on the four corners. I think they $26ea and that comp engineering makes them (so i heard).

Pretty happy with them, it's no corner carver, much better than stock (on my application) and it doesn't ride like its on block suspension. Happy all around with them. Painted them black, don't look like anything special

Goody,  Do you have to pull the shock to change the settings?

I run the KYB's in mine and the ride is firm but not too firm with the 17s.

Not sure actually, kinda gotta play with them in your hand to change the settings some. However, I've never felt the need to change them, you would atleast need to pull the bottom bolt I would imagine to compress it and change it. I've yet to mess with them.

I put the Summit shocks in my car with the 340, set them in the 'middle setting' and they perform well for my needs.........not a lot of bucks for the option to adjust if need be......IMO....dk

I went ahead and ordered the tried and true KYBs. Rock Auto has a real good price on them. Got the set for $141 delivered.

Three thumbs up for the Eddie's.  Had the rough riding KYB's.  Ditched them and don't regret it.  The eddies are worth the extra money.  Car rides much smoother and handles great.

The variable dampning on the Eddies however crude, would seem to be better then one setting fits all.

depend exactly what you want out of the car , better shocks offer better control which may be over kill for cruising or the wrong application for drag racing for example
 I would buy the best you can afford in the type needed  for what you want out of the car
