Upgrading toolbox, need some info
« on: November 06, 2008 - 12:22:22 PM »
I'm adding a bunch of sliding second level trays to some of my toolbox deep drawers. Can anybody recommend some kind of low friction strips that I can put on the trays or the spacers (probably 2x4s) that will let the trays slide easier?

Id go with a UHMW strip.
It can be found in many sizes and colors at a decent tool store.
Failing that get some old plastic cutting boards and cut them up.

Wood workers use it a lot for reducing friction between wood and machinery.

You could also use stick on ones for the bottoms of furniture.

If all else fails, get out a crayon or candle and wax the heck out of the top surface of the wood supports. Wax the norm for lowering friction on dresser drawers in the past.

A whole lot of rust and very little time to work on it...
