Almost There...

Project update:
So what started as a "get her back on the road" minor restorations has become the "I'm this far, might as well replace it too" project and is now going on 5 months. After removing 40 years worth of grime an painting or replacing everything, I think I'm finally on the downhill side. Today me and a friend installed the newly rebuilt engine and transmission. Thanks to the search engine on this site for answering most of the newby questions I had.

Can't wait until I'm at that stage!  Looks good!  I like the way you carried the body color into the door panels, nice touch!!!   :2thumbs:

Sean/Bullitt,
Thanks for the compliments! Regretfully, I'll have to get rid of the slots (they are pretty warped). I have a set of ralleys that cleaned up pretty nice though. Installed new suspension last night (PST)- should have took more pictures to remember how it goes back together...  :clueless: but I think I've got it.

Update...

The Good:Took it for its first drive on fathers day. My daughter and I were like a couple renegades cruising the back roads with no tags. Of course I had to let her drive like any teenage father would do.... Cuda therapy- its good for the soul!

The Bad: lower rear qtrs are being replaced this week (rust is starting to bubble), new exhaust system is scheduled to be installed next week. Things I still need- rocker panel moldings and console button (non locking) with latch. Found these on ebay, but a bit more than i"m looking to spend.

The Ugly: Rebuilt the 340, mild cam and bored .30 over (raising the compression closer to the 70/71 version of the 340) So far, I'm very pleased with her. But she's running hot -about 220 max. New 2 row radiator, HHR electric fan pulls about 3000 cfm (I'll post pictures later), started with a 195 thermostat, then a 185, now a 180, new water pump, 50/50mix antifreeze. One other Ugly: She's getting around 10mpg!
