Conversion Costs

what would it cost to convert say a 71 auto cuda to a manual?  what needs to be done?  any body modifications?  With the cost and rarity of 4 speed cars, it almost seems to make more financial sense to convert if one isnt that hung up on originality.

pedal assy.
bracket for the pedal assy. goes thru the firewall
pedal push rod...rod from the pedals to the Z-bar
bracket for the z-bar(40.00) needs to be welded to the frame
z-bar(new around 90.00)
adjustment rod--goes from the z-bar to the clutch fork
clutch fork
flywheel
clutch
pressure plate
throwout  bearing
pilot bushing or bearing
bell housing
4-speed trans
trans hump
pistol grip shifter ;D
shifter boot
console if wanted

body mods would be
1.putting in the trans hump..cut and weld
2.drill two holes in the firewall for the pedal bracket
3. the bracket for the Z-bar weld it to the frame.

I got my conversion package from a guy in Alabama on eBay.  Has everything except pressure plate, throwout bearing, pilot bushing, clutch disk, and the little firewall support bracket for the clutch pedal ($40).  I'll try to get you a link when I get home.  $1,800.00  Everything was in great shape, the shifter was Show Quality  ;D.

It would cost $5 grand to convert to a Keisler 5 speed......plus labor................

Then I looked into a gear vendors unit for automatics......it only cost $2500 plus labor........

Turns your 3 speed auto into a 6 speed auto......wow!!!
Makes a set of 4.10's ride at 3.20.........wow!!!

Launch outta the hole and have top end.......the ultimate :0)

I'd get a gear vendors one day in my next Mopar. There bloody awesome, you can put the over drive switch on the floor to give your left foot some exercise.  ;) But I love my Autos so I'm biase.  8) ;D

 8) gear venders with an od 833  .71 with 22% more speed  8)  , who needs a .5 viper/vette 6spd


the sad thing is my brother had a 81 1/2 ton /6 dodge with an od 833 that he gave away in 2000, before I knew what it was >:( he now regrets it, so do I.
