Opinions on T/A HOODS
« on: October 25, 2008 - 04:35:16 PM »
I've asked before and got the reply that most liked the T/A hoods by ACS+P in Eagleville PA. 610-458-8395
 Thanks for that !
What about this one? Has anyone had any dealings with this company? Or seen one on a buddies car? Looks good? I wished I could get one that uses the original latch . I don't want to use pins.  I understand that one needs to use different hood springs as well. Anyone know where to get them? How much?

I've heard really good things about them. I think a couple of members on here have them and really like them. I think that is the one I'm going to buy when I replace the one on my car currently.

Which one? The e-bay one or the  ACS+P?

Did anyone notice that the pink Challenger in the photos has 1 70 Challenger headlight bezel and 1 71 Challenger headlight bezel?

Can you install the front molding on a T/A hood? I'm noticing that on Year One website they say you CAN'T?? Why is this? Does anyone know which manufacturer's hood CAN accept the front  molding? I just don't think it looks      " finished" without it!  UP22 looks like it can but with the negative comments here I'm not wanting to use their's.
Thanks Brad

Brad,

I see the molding for the T/A hoods on E-Bay all the time. How it differs from the trim on the steel hood, I don't know, but perhaps Barry can tell us. This HAS to be do-able.

Thanks Brad

Yes, you can attach the same trim to the T/A hood.  You just need clips with longer studs.  My main comment about the ebay T/A hood is if you are doing a restoration on a real T/A, it is probably too nice.  They are really finished nocely underneath and the factory ones did not look anywhere near as nice.  I used one on my Pro Street and had zero complaints.

Thanks! It's not a real T/A Did you use different hood springs? If so where did you get them?
Thanks Brad

Yes, you have to use light weight hood springs.  I got mine on ebay but I believe Year-One and AAR Quality Fiberglass also carry them.  IIRC, they were around $60.00
