Rear Valence Attachment???
« on: December 01, 2008 - 07:55:49 PM »
My body guy has hung the new quarters and is fitting the rear valence to make sure everything lines up.I took the car apart and he's asked where and how the two tabs mount to on the car.  Old age and memory loss has caused me to forget and failure to write any more than "remove Valence" without a pic means it should be fairly simple. Nothing in my box of parts looks like it mates up. Please Help

These are from a 73 cuda, on the 70 they extend down & pick up another screw on the bottom.

that would make sense but these tabs are closer to the bumper brackets on the challenger.

Just looked at my OE '73 Challey valance..apparently there has never been a bolt through that hole, no marring like on the outer holes, & no place for it to attach.

The rear valance was made from the same stamp die for all years of Challenger. In 1970 Chrysler used individual brackets to attach the valance. That is what the holes are for. In 1971 up Chrysler dropped the use of individual brackets and simplified things by welding a center bracket to the valance. If your valance has the welded center bracket you do not need to use the holes to mount the valance. On your car you should have the center mounting bracket. The holes were left in the valance because there never was a need to make a new stamp for the valance.

Thanks, the valence is mounted in the centre. I was worried that my bag and tag system had let me down.
