Green Bearings

So everyone will know after I ask the question.

Do green bearing conversions still require the factory inner axle seals?? Or can oil sit against the inner seal part of the bearing?

I'd never use those junk bearings so I don't know. Why not do the whole conversion and put in a 10 bolt rear?

You can leave the lipped seals out, the O-ring on the bearing seals against the inside of the flange.  clean the flange good, scotch-brite it to smooth it too.  then put a film of grease on the O-ring and flange before slipping them in.  That being said, the inner lipped seals can stay if you don't want to remove them.  they won't hurt a thing.

Junk?  useable?  lots of opinions on that one

My friend did that conversion on his '68 RR race car. One of the axels pulled out the side of the car going down the track and wiped out a quarter panel. Quite a price to pay to not have to spend 5 minutes adjusting the bearing. I've never seen a stock Mopar tapered roller axel bearing go bad except for one on a Dart that had the small rear with a cover (7 1/4?) and it was a roller bearing.

I think he's refering to how many bolts hold the rear cover on.

    Back at you    The rear cover  (dana rear) is a 10 bolt.

It is a Dana 60 out of a 73 6banger 3/4ton ford truck SG 3.73 tracLoc. I have the Dodge ends on the housing and it is the same dimensions as the stock rear end. I run the green bearings out of necessity not choice as the TracLoc has no center pin and buttons to spread the load across the two axles per the stock setup. This is waht I would like to do so does anyone know how to achieve this? CP is using the same diff with the sealed double thrust taper roller bearings from a 1/2 ton Ford. DTS supplied the special housing ends. there is an article on this in the Aug 2006 Mopar Action.
Stroker - what did you use on your Dana or was it a stock E body Dana which solves the problem?

Does that mean that you don't use them or they don't retain oil? Because MRE sent inner oil seals with my axles with green bearings.

if you have them install them , having oil up against the green brg will not help as it is sealed , it is just that the green brg will seal in the oil without the inner seal as well

Yeah I'll put them in since I had such a fun time pulling the original ones out I would feel incompleete if I didn't after that ordeal.

just use a seal driver & tap them into place no prob unless you dont have a seal driver that size
