Fires Finally Under Control
« on: March 06, 2009 - 03:36:20 AM »
At last the fires are finally under control, almost 4 weeks, 210 people dead, approx. 60 people still missing, over 2,000 houses & shops destroyed, an unknown animal death toll.
Rain started to fall 2 days ago, its been around 90 days since we had any, still one major fire and there are still several minor fires burning but they are under control.
Fire fighters from interstate, New South Wales, Canberra, Tasmania, unfortunately one fire fighter died on his last day and he was from Canberra.
Fire fighters from America, Canada & New Zealand also came across to help us.

All I can say is, God Bless the fire fighters, especially those who gave up their time and families to come to our aid, fire fighters are our unsung heros.    :angelwings:
If it wasn't for them my place would have been gone as well.
   :2thumbs:
The greenies will now come out of their hiding places and try to hinder the cleanup like they have done after every bush/forest fire, but the politicans are for the moment listerning to the people and may do something to stop this happening again.   :poopoke:

I'm glad to hear that the fires are finally under control! You people really had it tough for quite a while, hope something can be done to prevent such large fires again.

That was one heck of a mess. I'm glad you guys are finally getting the upper hand on it, and glad you are around to tell us. I hope life gets back to somewhat normal soon.

Thanks all, some people will be never found, fire burns everything.   :angelwings:
In one town they started to let the people in so they could look through the burnt out houses for anything sentimental and found pieces of bones so they again shut that town down and went through again, a very depressing job.
