What's the alternative?

Local show, meets and press. I know MCG started that BidMopar.com (free to members) but I don't think it has taken off. This only works if were talking Mopar stuff. Honestly I would of thought someone would of started similar business to Ebay. I'm sure many have looked into it and I'm sure its easier said than done.

I'll can say this, if people continue to stop using them they have to change. I'm sure its a product of the economy but there are no buyers on there recently. As mentioned a 1/3 seem to be bad bidders. I won't completely stop using it but I would like to. I may give the BidMopar a shot and hope it takes off. I guess it never will unless we use it.

Not nearly as powerful as eBay but there is Craigslist - and there are some powersearch options like crazedlist.org that let you search the entire site not just one region at a time...

I don't think he sells anything, buyer only. Besides, I don't leave negative feedback. Well, I should say I never used to leave negative, now they just won't let you leave it for buyers, unless you file a dispute and drag it out with countless emails and such. Waste of time IMO. I never could understand why some buyers are so concerned with their feedback rating. It's not like I know who is going to win my items. :dunno: If someone wins an item and they have negative feedback, I really couldn't care less.

Well, the restriction would piss me off to no end - is there a phone number you can even call for Ebay support??  I've never even thought to look.  I'd be railing someone out to high heaven on the phone - saying the same stuff you told us - over $8,000 in fees to Ebay.  They should be kissing your feet.

As far as the feedback is concerned, I wouldn't worry about it too much.  Most people understand that when they see someone with thousands of feedback scores, you're bound to get a few negatives.  It's the people with only 100 and 5 negative feedbacks that I read more carefully.  I wouldn't worry about it.  I'd just be fighting that restriction.

The biggest problem is that ebay runs on machines - it's all statistics and figures.  There's no human element involved, and when you try to do that, you just make things more frustrating for actual HUMANS...

There is an Ebay Stores Customer Support Line. The Phone Number is 866-322-9103. First Option #1, Second Option #1, then you get a live human, but they haven't been able to help me. They said that a different department handles the restrictions and they only deal in Email. The people on the phone are nice. Here is the standard email that I keep getting.

Dear scott,

Thank you for writing eBay in regard to your further concerns.

eBay is committed to providing a positive buying experience on our site.
In order to help maintain a safe trading environment, selling limits are
occasionally placed on accounts.

Sellers who have a good track record on our site and are confident in
the authenticity and origin of their items may be eligible to have their
selling limits raised. Our considerations include buyer feedback, time
and activity on site, compliance with eBay policies, and other factors.

We've carefully reviewed your account and history with eBay, and we're
sorry to say that we can't change your current selling limits. Please
note, however, that the restrictions you're experiencing are only for
certain categories or items. You should be able to list other items
without encountering these restrictions.

Please contact us in 90 days, and we'll review your account again. In
the meantime, we encourage you to continue to follow all policies and
build a positive selling history on eBay.

For the latest tips, tools, information, and resources for selling on
eBay, please visit eBay's Seller Central pages:

Also, please visit eBay's Help pages for more information on our listing
policies and guidelines:

http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/seller-rules-overview.html

At its discretion, eBay may raise the selling limits for members with an
established positive track record and about whom eBay has the highest
confidence.  Our considerations include, among other factors, buyer
feedback, time and activity on site, and compliance with eBay policies.

Thank you for your time.

Hello, Thank you for your reply. Please check my feedback as I have
already started receiving positive feedback for the sales of the DVDs. I
need to have the restriction lifted, so that I can sell the rest of them
in time for Christmas. Waiting 90 days is not an option. The only person
that you are hurting is me, and what have I done to deserve this? I have
alot of money tied up in these DVDs, and I need to sell them, so that I
can have money to pay my bills. I know that Ebay CAN lift the
restriction on my account, so that is what I need you to do. It is not
right that you operate like this. I have pleaded my case, and there is
NO REASON why you shopuldn't lift the restriction.

Don't you just love it!! :villagers:I used to sell a lot on Ebay when I had my antique shop & usually had no problems. Then I started to sell to overseas buyers. That's when things changed. Of course Ebay was always changing up things. Everytime I got used to the format, they'd change it and the fees too!! I ALWAYS stated in my listing everything I knew about the item to the best of my ability and stated to ask questions and clear any doubts BEFORE bidding. If there was any doubt about the item/description, then DON'T bid. It would never fail that some yo-yo would end up as high bidder and THEN have questions and not want the item. I recently went through this with a buyer from France. I went through Ebay  to resolve the conflict. I told the yo-yo NOT to bid if he had doubts. He ended up leaving ME negative feedback!! :swear: It seems to be the idiot bidders that make it bad more so than Ebay, but I don't have a lot of hope for Ebay to change for the better!! Hope things improve for you Scott!!

As I mentioned in another post, ebay is so intent on protecting buyers from bad sellers, that they are now not protecting sellers from bad buyers. Let something get too one-sided, and the scammers will take advantage of it. Let everyone post feedback, and let everyone use their own judgement. The bad sellers and buyers will quickly get weeded out, just like it used to be.

I have pretty much stopped using ebay because they have become too much of a pain in the a$$. If anyone wants to start a new auction website, count me in.

I guess all my persistence has paid off. I got the buyer to retract the negative feedback and Ebay just lifted my restriction on the DVD category. I just kept emailing them about every other day and they finally agreed and lifted the restriction. At least now I know, I hope this post saves someone from making the same mistake that I made. If you aren't established in a specific category, Ebay may limit you to the number of items that you can list in a 30 day period. In this case with the DVDs, it was 100 DVDs in a 30 day period.
