AMD vs. Goodmark
« on: December 22, 2008 - 09:53:37 PM »
This has probably already been asked a dozen times but is the AMD and Goodmark floors pans the same or from different sources? I am looking for a full front and LH and RH rear floors. Both vendors have the same prices.

from the info I gathered on few different forums, AMD appears to have better fitment and overall quality

That is good to know.  I am going to order mine about the 16th of Jan along with the rest of my sheet metal for my car.
Got a pretty good start on my M46 optioned Barracuda restoration but now it is on hold till I can gather more funds.  Still need a few parts for it.  SIU Graduate 75 AAS Automotive Tech, 94 BS Advanced Tech Studies, 1997 MSED Workforce Education and Development

Definitely different sources since they are competitiors. I bought a ton of sheetmetal from Goodmark. I already found out the rear floorpans are made wrong for my challenger. Drain holes in the wrong location (not a big deal), but the seat belt mounts are also wrong (bigger deal). I will probably be buying some AMD rear pans instead of trying to make the goodmark work. I think the goodmark ones are only for a certain year, I am not upto date on the differences, but apparently neither were they since they sold them to me. So far AMD seems to be raqted better, but Goodmark has a headstart on them if you need the stuff now.

From what I've heard AMD is the way to go. I have yet to hear a complaint but I haven't been looking really hard either. If you start adding up the Goodmark issues they seem to be things that should of never made it to production. The first run Chally fenders have issues with the fit of the headlight bezels and as mentioned the floor pan issues with the drain and belt mounts. I'm sure I'm leaving stuff off and others will chime in on. Not to mention they always miss their targets by a year(or it seems).

Now I have nothing against Goodmark and was glad they stepped up first. It just seems like AMD may have the quailty edge at this point. I heard somewhere Goodmark was going to or considering halting some Mopar metal. Did anyone else hear that ? Was that just a dirty rumor ? I myself find it hard to believe after the large investment they have into it. Thoughts anyone ?

I wouldn't be that negative on Goodmark stuff,  those parts are million times better than patched rotten rusted junk , I'm working on heavily rusted out 55 Porsche 356 Speedster, some of the structural parts simply can not be bought, even rear seat areas that are the first to rust, I would be very happy if I could get theese replacement parts even if they were not that great fitting and needed some extensive work to fit,but since they are not avaliable, I have to start from scratch handform ,english wheel, bead rolling,e.t.c, it takes countless hours to make parts like that from scratch by hand, but then again ,theese are quarter million $$$dollar cars,so if you own one,you know it won't be cheap to restore it

Are you sure, we did a 60 356 Roadster, got plenty of sheetmetal available for it, Floors are easy, but the longitudinals were a life saver
