Shocks

Any ideas on what I should get for my suspension front and rear?? When I got the car it had air shocks in the rear but I think I will do away with those..for now.

What works best? :dunno:

Any ideas would be appreciated.

This is something you need to decide based on what you want for the car just to narrow down the possibilities.  The options range from stock rebuild to tricked out XV or custom suspensions.  Let us know what you want to use the car for and maybe some ideas will pop up.  :2thumbs:

For a driver you could just rebuild your suspension with quality Moog parts and KYB shocks.  If you want to upgrade to poly, check out the suspension kits from Just Suspension or PST.  You could also upgrade the shocks to something like Edelbrocks if you want a better performing shock.  If your leaf springs are shot, I'd suggest getting a pair of Mopar replacement springs and new bushings.  Sway bars too if you don't have em.  For my cars I got a poly front suspension rebuild kit, Mopar R/T torsion bars and rear leafs and KYB's all around.  I'm pretty happy, but will get better shocks next time around.  Good luck.  :2thumbs:

KYB tend to be a harsh shock , a simple Monroe shock for $25 will work for a driver & look stock if painted , Gabriel used to have some adjustable shocks with 3 settings , obviously more $ spent = better performing shocks but depending on what you demand from your car a $200 Shock may be overkill, while you could spend as much as $800 or more each

+1 on what CP said. If you have the stock suspension, gas charged monroes or gabriels would work fine for a cruise to the show and shine type vehicle.

Edelbrock has a nice velocity sensitive shock that bolts on. I have a sneaking suspicion they are the same as Monroes Sensa-track, but with mounts for older cars.

 If you do expect a little more performance feel than a simple cruiser, Koni or Bilstein are excellent choices and will be the last shocks you ever need to buy as they are rebuildable and can be custom valved.

If you like to tinker with settings and occasionally like a trip down the 1320, QA1 adjustables allow you to tune the feel specifcally to what you want.

KYB gas adjusts tend to feel overpressurized and ride rough unless your car is 4000+ pounds. I've never tried their GR-2 shocks.

I run monroe gas/hydraulics on my car.  It is just an everyday car tho.   Rides good 4 me.

I got the ED IAS shocks for the front of mine, mainly because they were on sale at Jeg's and I'm not disappointed.
Once we had Ronald Reagan, Bob Hope & Johnny Cash. Now we have Obama, No Hope and No Cash!
