Panel/sheet metal Guage

Can anyone tell me what thickness or guage sheet metal I should use for rust repair on the inner fender or upper cowl? Also is this standard throughout the car? Thanks

I would use 19 gauge for the cowl repairs, 18 or less is difficult to work with unless your a regular fabricator.
