My '71 had a similar problem that turned out to be in the turn signal switch.  I replaced it and all was well.

1. check bulbs stop&turn are the same
2. check the signal at the turnsignal switch connector

3. get a wiring diagram and everything will be easier ;)

Probably in the TS switch , check for power in the wite wire up the column & check for power out to the tailights if power goes in but not out it is the TS switch

the signal to hazard/brake rear lights is:
dark green - LEFT
brown - RIGHT

they should be just by the white wire. Remember they only give signal when hazrd/turn signal/brake connectors are swithed on (eg. hazard switch, turn lever, brak applied). The easiest way is to check em with hazrd lights on (if they work - check front). generally unplug the connector and link white-brown, then white-dark green, right, then left light should turn on (brake applied). If so the turn signal switch is damaged. If not then no curent/broken bulb/wire.
