Special Red Door Trim
« on: January 01, 2009 - 12:56:02 PM »
I asked this question as a result of a newbie post, but thought I should repeat it here also.    A new member showed a Cuda with a red door trim and several others indicated that it was available on 70 and 71 Cuda's (Grand Cudas)...... and were quite rare.

As I'm more into Challengers --- were these also available for Challengers?   I've not seen any -- Does anyone have any info on these - again, for Challeners?    Is there a special trim option for these on a broadcast sheet?

Thanks

Never a Challenger option.

If I recall correctly, these came on Gran Coupe Barracuda/Cudas with the black seats/orange piping. I think the inserts were orange also, not red. "Regular" GC's would have fake woodgrain in the grooves.

A Cuda guy will know better than me.    :swaying:

The SE had a trim upgrade which included the door panels on the panels they had a carpet on the bottom of the door with a reflector.

CudaHunter -- Go to Newbie Intros -- the post is entitled "door trim" and there are pics of Cuda panels with the special trim

I am very familiar with the "special edition" Challenger -- but I remain confused as to the availability of this Special Red Trim on a Challenger door.    Here is a pic that I found -- perhaps someone just doctered it and it is not original?

Not available on Challengers, those must be customized.

Thanks,

Looks good on a challenger, even if it wasn't available.

After reading the other two posts that have talked about this, I am somewhat confused now as to what barracuda's this was actually available on.
Shouldn't it be available on all of the barracuda's in 70 anyway.  Barracuda, Gran Coupe, and Cuda.
What option did this come with?  Was it included with the leather interior upgrade if you had a black interior and a salt and pepper.
Were these the only colors you could get this option with?

Barry:   thanks for confirming what I had suspected.....      The pic I found was from one for sale -- and I needed one anyway -- so I just bought it.   Will be interesting to see what it looks like up close and personal - before I paint over it

As for Cudas; any Cuda with the leather seat option also got WOOD inserts on their door panels, Grand Coups got RED inserts in the door panels, none on Challengers.
