What references should we all have sitting on the shelf?
« on: January 11, 2009 - 08:43:31 PM »
Other than CC.Com. what reference materials should we all have sitting on the shelf before we start a full restoration?   :working:  Do we need different references to work on the chasis, the body, the engine, wiring?  What is your favorite restoration for dummies  book?  Which ones are essential and which ones are nice to have?

The factory service manual for your make & model is #1.

Beyond that you can visit my library anytime;

Definitely the service and assembly manuals for your year and model (1970 the 2 books were combined in 1). I have Motors manuals for the 60's and 70's. Also the how-to: build small block mopars, big block mopars, hot rod small block mopars, hot rod big block mopars. I just got a good book on building 727 torqueflites.

I'd also recommend the Mopar Performance Parts Chassis manual (9th edition). Ther's a lot of good info in there for performance mods that you won't find in the regular service manual!!

I have all the FSM's from 68 thru 71. Also helpful are the parts books, I have 69 thru 74 on them. That should just about have you covered, and if you get stuck ask a question here and you'll have a good answer within a few hours.
