Like he said.. it's a fantastic way toget all the parts you need. Then plan to tear it all down, clean and check everything, repair it, and then reassemble. That being said... I know enough about Hemis to know you can't do a budget one, and IMO, there are issues that make assembling them a specialty.


Not a whole lot different on mild builds.  The more radical you build it, the more of a specialty it can be.  Several issues need attention on the Hemi that the wedge motors don't require.  Also, the difference in the combustion chamber design and the combustion characteristics call for more tuning expertise on the Hemi.  They can be persnickity sometimes....    :smilielol:

Maybe an option for me is to find an enginebuilder in the US and then ship it over? Get a little bit scared
when I see that some new blocks don't have any bores for the lifters.

Also the fact I don't want the chrome valvecovers and the single carb inlet on the crate engines
points towards a piece by piece purchase.

covers & intakes can be sold off , you need to break this down piece by piece & see what is the best economic route , buy a crate & discard some parts or buy parts individually & maybe pay more

I think the builder-dujour is Tim Banning (For Hemis Only) right now. Buy a crate engine and have him go thru it for you and dyno test it BEFORE it ships. I agree Oldschool. I wouldnt do a customer's hemi..lol. I'd do one for myself first if I could afford to.

Had Tim Banning on the phone and he has sent me pictutes of his engines and his red Chally vert. :2thumbs:

He told me to go big cubic inch to have an "easy" engine with good idle, vacuum and throttlerespons.
Looks like I have found my source, he sells both complete ones or "do it yourself kits".
