Pertronix Flame Thrower Distributor

I'm installing the pertronix flame thrower distibutor and i have some questions. The instructions say to connect it directly to the coil, what do you do with the orignal wires that went from the original distributor to the ECU?  Is the ECU still needed?  Also do I still need the ballast resistor?

When all else fails, follow the directions you got with the disytributor. If you bought it used go to the website and get them.

The instructions are very vague, All it says is to connect the red wire to the positive side of the coil and the black wire to the negative side of the coil.  It does not say what it replaces or what does not need to be connected.

Pertronics Do not Hook to the coil Positive , if you do the car may not start or run properly
if you Read the instructions it says to connect the red lead to 12V , the coil is 8 volts , you need to connect the pertronics to the blue 12v switched wire at the ballast for it to work correctly
yes you need the ballast resister still
