Anyone have any experience with garage lifts?
« on: January 14, 2009 - 09:00:57 PM »
I would like to able to stack my two e-bodies on top of each other in my garage. I think I have all the garage modifications necessary to do this figured out. Do any of you guys know anything about lifts?

I have a four post,my ceiling height is 10'-0'',the two cars are roughly 56'' (both b-bodys)to the highest point of the roof, the lift goes by 4 1/4'' lock intervals, one being right at 56'' which is to close for comfort,so the next lock position is 60 1/4'',which puts the top car right at the ceiling(again to close for comfort).Ideal situation is finding a lift that has a lock position of 57''or 58'',or if your ceiling is at least 10'-6'' or greater. To solve my problem I am going to get 12'' x 12'' by 1'' thick steel plates to put under the posts.Hope this gave some helpfull info for you.

I'd buy a Challenger lift. I've seen pictures of a shop collapse. The whole building got destroyed but the lifts survived perfectly. :2thumbs:

I would have to agree with that.  Make sure the ceiling is high enough to do what you want to do also.  I think my garage will be 12' from now on.
Got a pretty good start on my M46 optioned Barracuda restoration but now it is on hold till I can gather more funds.  Still need a few parts for it.  SIU Graduate 75 AAS Automotive Tech, 94 BS Advanced Tech Studies, 1997 MSED Workforce Education and Development
