Road Course rental 3/30/09 - any one interested
« on: January 06, 2009 - 01:11:37 PM »
I'm posting this up to get any interest from the old school muscle crowd. This event is going to happen.  I am going in my modded Charger Daytona and the event was set-up for the LX platform of cars.  There will be Chargers, 300C, Magnums and Challengers on the road course.

So what am I talking about.  A track day at New Jersey Motorsports park, running the Lightning track, 2 mile road course.

Read below and let me know if you are interested.
"The lightning course is 2 miles long and actually allows for much higher speeds than the thunderbolt. Ill start a poll shortly for dates and course. I have not commited to either course and both are available to us based on the date we choose.

Pricing has a huge variance based on day of the week and time of the year. Weekends are out because you have to commit to a 3 day event. Not something Im willing to do and thats way out of our league. Doing it on a Monday is probably going to be best reference pricing and the fact it might make it easier for those that have to travel down the day before. A monday in March is $3000 cheaper than a Monday in April.

Monday March 30th is available. Monday April 6, 13 and 27 are available as well. Pricing is going to be based on the date we chose and the number of cars we get to participate. As of now Id say plan on $250 a person to be safe. The track is going to cost between $5,000 and $8,000. Then we have to pay for an event insurance policy, track workers and instructors. According to the track director, that will cost us around $3000. He recommends we hire 10 instructors minimum and will put me in contact with them for rates etc..."

As far as date goes, we are now looking at March 30th.  Post up any questions or if you want more info.

What no AAR Cudas or T/A Challengers up to the Challenge. No one wants to run their car like it was made for?  C'mon guys, it will be fun!
If you are worried, we do not run in a pack, so no need to worry about someone bumping into you.

Well in the v6 Chally you may get lapped but in your REAL Challenger I don't think you would.

Of course we are talking 125+ mph on the straight aways  :cooldancing:

I`d love to get some stickier rubber and throw my Barracuda into those corners but NJ is a little too far away.

If I had a car to mess around on a road course I'd be there in a minute, would be ALOT more fun than the dragstrip..
I would run the car until it ran out of fuel & tire...
Rental's anyone??? :lol2:

I'd be all over that if I was down there.
I have to kiss(you know) to get invited out to play on the track with beemers, hondas and the like.
Maybe when I am out there with the Challenger more it will get some drag guys to convert to road race.
They think if you go road racing you are going to hit walls.

No need to hit the walls.  This is all for fun, no one is going to push their car beyond thier own driving abilities.  Instructors will be on hand and I'd take my 73 Chally there, but I jsut put a lot of work in my new Charger and want to see what it can do.  Heads, cam, intake, coil overs, new gear, torque converter, brakes, sways.  I'll push it to the limit.

On and btw, we choose this course because there are NO WALLS!  Open area with sand traps if you do get a bit crazy.

Goody posted this up, maybe this will get some people in the mood.

Thats what I try telling them, I got two guys to go to a road coarse and they have been converted.
They had a blast and now they understand when I say that I am exhausted from all the racing I get to do compared to the Drags where they would spend most of the day waiting to go down the track for 11 seconds.

I'd love to go, but that is a couple days drive too far away for me to consider.
